It sure looks like a slightly ranking having the two Thai major cities on top of a list as the world´s best cities.

Especially, if one remembers the bloodshed during the March-May clashes in Bangkok it´s hard to believe there had been no better urban tourist destination than the City of Angels.

I looked it up and found out the survey among the readers of Travel + Leisure magazine had taken place before the pandemonium happened (January, February, and March issues).

I also had a look at the methodology which made it much clearer why the Thai cities are considered best among all the world´s metropolises: L+S rated the sights, culture/arts, restaurants/food, people, shopping and value. Bangkok is certainly outstanding in these categories. But has always been. So I wonder how the Thai capital could only have been third last year.
